UBC Properties Trust

In 1988, the University created a property management subsidiary, now known as UBC Properties Trust (UBC PT). The UBC PT represents the best practices of managing UBC’s real estate assets for the benefit of the UBC Endowment.

Currently, family housing, such as residential low-rise buildings, townhouses, apartments, etc., at UBC is never sold outright, but leased as pre-paid 99-year leases in line with the UBC Endowment Management Policy 113. The net revenue generated from issuing these 99-year leases are invested in two endowments: the Trek Land Endowment and Trek Match Endowment.
