Event Details

  • Setup on Friday, March 8th from 12noon  – 7:30pm
  • Takedown immediately following the event to 7:30pm
  • Attendance:  650 Participants, 100 spectators
  • Annual UBC Recreation event for the university community
  • Hawthorn Place will be a quiet zone with no water zones or spectators
  • Food will be provided to the participants
  • Sound system will be used at levels heard in the immediate area

Road Closures

  • Stadium Road will be CLOSED from East Mall to West Mall.  Access to Hospice will be provided at all times from West Mall
  • East Mall will be CLOSED from University Boulevard to West 16th Avenue
  • Thunderbird Boulevard open with controlled crossings at Main Mall and East Mall between gaps in participants
  • West 16th Avenue will be CLOSED westbound only from Wesbrook Mall to SW Marine Drive
  • SW Marine Drive will be CLOSED northbound only from West 16th Avenue to Stadium Road
  • Agronomy Road will be CLOSED from East Mall to Main Mall
  • Access to Botanical Garden via Stadium Road gaps in cyclists

University Boulevard, Main Mall, University Commons

Annual event to raise awareness of mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health conditions.  The event is also a fundraiser for Mood Disorders Society of Canada and the Mental Health Awareness Club

Setup will occur at 8am with takedown immediately following the event to approximately 5pm.

Anticipated 200 participants

Start/finish at University Commons

The South side of University Boulevard and West side of Main Mall will remain accessible for pedestrians, cyclists and emergency vehicles

Access to buildings to be maintained through gaps in runners

A sound system will be used at levels heard only in the immediate area.  Event noise will not disrupt classes or university operations

Participants will follow rules of the road.  There are no road closure.

Event Marshalls will be situated at Main Mall & Agronomy Road and at Main Mall & Thunderbird Boulevard to ensure safe crossing

Hawthorne Place to be a "no spectator" area

  • First aid attendants will be present at event
  • Parking will not be permitted in B4 lot. 
  • UBC Campus security to be present for safety outside of fenced area and to direct vehicles to other parking locations
  • Third-party security provided by Safey World
  • One food truck to be locatd within fenced area
  • Licensed beer garden in controlled fenced area

Event Details

Annual UBC Recreation event - Swim, Sprint, Cycle, Run, Over the 12 foot Wall

Wall setup will occur March 8th to 15th.

Wall clinics occur March 18th - 22nd

Event fencing and other setup on Friday, March 8th from 7am - 5pm..  Takedown immediately following the event to 5pm to April 1st.

Anticipated 3,500 participants

There are no road closures associated with this event. 

Pedestrians and cyclists will be detoured around the routes and accommodated across the routes at key locations when there are gaps in runners

The cycle route will be closed off for participant use only - a detour will be provided around the route for campus pedestrians and cyclists. 

Event volunteers will be positoned on the route to provide access to buildings on Main Mall
