The proposal is for a new student housing project to be located adjacent to the existing Gage Apartments along Wesbrook Mall and Student Union Boulevard. The project consists of student housing; office space for UBC Student Housing and Hospitality Services; and amenity space including café/fitness space.

Description

The approximately 34,500m2 project is comprised of up to 970 student beds that also includes office space for Student Housing and Hospitality Services and associated amenity and services spaces.

The Walter Gage Infill Student Residences Project (Pacific Residence) is one component of a campus-wide program to substantially increase the number of beds available to students enrolled at UBC. The specific mandate of the project is to create approximately 1000 new beds for upper year students and to accommodate approximately 1,700 square meters of office space for Student Housing and Hospitality Services. The strategy for accommodating this program is to build a consistent form around the south and east perimeter of the existing Walter Gage precinct, where surface parking lots and berms are currently located.
