At UBC we enjoy a relative abundance of water due to a large amount of rainfall. However, with seasonal rainfall patterns and limited storage in reservoirs, there are periods when water reservoir levels run low and water use must be restricted.

UBC is in the final stages of developing a new Water Action Plan to build on our achievements to date and guide our water management activities in the future.
At UBC, we consider stormwater a resource to be managed – not wasted. Vancouver’s climate is rainy, with approximately five billion litres of rain falling on the UBC campus annually. Instead of flushing this water away through underground storm sewers, we use it as a resource to enhance our campus.
