UBC Properties Trust has applied to the University of British Columbia for a Development Permit to construct the Gateway North building, a 8,893.5 sq. m (95,728 sq. ft.), 6-storey, academic building with commercial units on the ground floor, a grocery store on the second floor, and lab research spaces on the remaining four floors. The total building area is 7,712 sq. m (83,011 sq. ft.).
