The Zero Waste Committee supports the implementation of the Zero Waste Action Plan.
In support of the Zero Waste Action Plan targets, the committee works collaboratively with other campus groups and institutions in proposing zero waste actions and initiatives around campus, such as new pilot projects.
Members take on a leadership role in their area of responsibility, as they manage and coordinate approved Plan actions to raise waste-reduction awareness on campus.
The committee is chaired by the Sustainability & Engineering unit at Campus and Community Planning and includes (but is not limited to) representation from the following departments and organizations:
- Alma Mater Society
- Building Operations (Custodial Services and Waste Management)
- Common Energy UBC
- Financial Operations
- Risk Management Services
- Student Housing and Hospitality Services
- University Neighbourhoods Association
