A welcoming and open all-season turf facility for recreational and community use, residing at the heart of campus nestled next to the Aquatic Centre and the War Memorial Gym.

Turf field satellite view

MacInnes Field is divided into three subsections of equal surface area (approx. 1,200 sq. m. each). One, two, or all three subsections may be allocated for your event, depending on the type and required capacity of your event. 

Field 1 is located on the northern side of the turf area, closest to the Life Building and the Aquatic Centre. 

Field 2 is located on the central portion of the turf area, between the AMS Student Nest and the bus loop. 

Field 3 is located on the southern side of the turf area, closest to the War Memorial Gym and University Blvd. 

MacInnes Field is located above University Blvd Lot. There is a maximum weight load permitted on MacInnes Field and the surrounding plaza area. Weight load calculations must include people, infrastructure, vehicles, and any additional elements supported by the surface of the field or plaza. During inclement weather, the weight of rain/snow will be taken into consideration. 

Event infrastructure should be dispersed throughout the event footprint as much as possible. Clusters of infrastructure resulting in significant weight concentrated on any one specific area of the field should be avoided.

To access MacInnes Field by vehicle for event setup and take down, a bollard drop is required. There is a fee for this service. Bollard drops must be arranged prior to event setup with the Film and Events Office.

Please be advised that the bollard must never be left unattended when lowered.

Next Steps

If you would like to book MacInnes Field for your next outdoor event, your first step is to review the Outdoor Event Booking Process. After you're familiar with the booking process, you will be required to submit an Outdoor Event Application.

Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis, and must be submitted a minimum of 15 business days in advance of event setup if the event has minimal impact to campus. If alcohol is being served, applications must be submitted a minimum of 45 business days in advance of event setup. High-impact events require a minimum of six (6) months in advance of event setup.
