Outdoor Signage and Street Decals

The Film & Events Office is responsible for managing and approving any temporary signage or street decals placed on outdoor spaces at UBC.

Guidelines

  • Requests for outdoor signage or street decals must be submitted a minimum of 15 business days in advance.
  • For AMS elections, a minimum of 3 business days will be required for the campaign period from February 27th to March 6th, 2025 (tentative dates).  A maximum of 10 lawn signs per candidate and 25 signs per referendum campaign.  All AMS Elections campaign and sign requirements must be followed.  Only wire, H-frame sign posts will be considered with a maximum sign size of 24”x18”. Charges will apply if signs are not removed by March 6th at 12pm.
  • Sign requests must be in accordance with UBC's Policy #UP8 - Posting of Notices, Posters and Signs.
  • Lawn signs are not permitted on the grass median (lawn area in the middle) of Main Mall or University Boulevard, as there is a risk of damage to the underground utilities. 
  • Street decals are not permitted in the University Commons (plaza next to the Nest and the Life Building).
  • UBC does not permit corporate advertising or the marketing of third-party products through the use of lawn signs or street decals.
