Purpose:

The T100 Triathlon is taking place at Jericho Beach Park and will attract thousands of spectators and athletes. This is the first year the event is being held in Canada, but the plan is for it to be an annual event held in August in subsequent years.

The proposed cycling course takes participants along roads on and around campus, which will have a significant impact on the campus community and visitors. For more information about the event including detailed course maps and road closure information please see the event website.

If you wish to provide feedback regarding the impact of the event you can e-mail: vancouver@t100triathlon.com

Community Impacts:

Pro Event – Saturday, June 14th from 9am to 3pm

  • Route is a loop through and around the west side of the campus, but there will be many opportunities for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists to cross the event route throughout the day through gaps in cyclists.
  • Traffic control personnel will be present to manage pedestrian and vehicle crossings at key locations and fencing will be installed through the centre of campus to enhance safety.
  • Southbound lane on Marine Drive will be closed, but the northbound lane will be open for local traffic to access Botanical Garden, MoA and Cecil Green Park Road through gaps in cyclists with the help of traffic control personnel.
  • Rose Garden Parkade will be open all day via the northbound lane on NW Marine Drive.
  • TransLink bus route 68 and R4 will be impacted, check TransLink alerts website for details.
  • Event to be live broadcasted – 3 motorcycles will follow and film the pros in action.
