It’s Safe + Sustainable Transportation Month!

Throughout the month of May, UBC is celebrating safe, active and sustainable transportation with activities and events aimed at promoting walking and cycling on campus.

Things kick of May 6 with Jane's Walk. Leading this walk, as a tribute to the late urban activist Jane Jacobs, is Scot Hein, C+CP’s Urban Designer. This tour will explore how the UBC campus is emerging into an urban village.

Walk n’ Roll to school takes place May 9-13. UTown@UBC and the UNA are teaming up to promote safe, active and sustainable transportation in our community. Walking school buses, led by community volunteers will depart from select campus neighbourhoods to nearby schools. There will be prizes, bike safety checks, RCMP speed watch and community foot patrols happening throughout the week as well.

Need a bike repair? The UTown@UBC Community Bike Clinics are happening May 11 from 4:00-6:00 at Acadia Park and May 25 from 4:00-6:00 at the Old Barn.

Get ready for Bike to Work Week by attending a lunch’n learn provides tips and covers important things cyclists of all levels need to know about biking in one hour.

Finally, Bike to Work Week is May 30-June 5.  Be sure to hop on your bike and support a healthy lifestyle.
