Outdoor Signage and Street Decals

The Film & Events Office is responsible for managing and approving any temporary signage or street decals placed on outdoor spaces at UBC.

Guidelines

  • Requests for outdoor signage or street decals must be submitted a minimum of 15 business days in advance, and must be in accordance with UBC's Policy #UP8 - Posting of Notices, Posters and Signs.
  • Only H-frame lawn signs will be considered.
  • Lawn signs are not permitted on the grass median (lawn area in the middle) of Main Mall or University Boulevard, as there is a risk of damage to the underground utilities. 
  • Street decals are not permitted in the University Commons (plaza next to the Nest and the Life Building).
  • UBC does not permit corporate advertising or the marketing of third-party products through the use of lawn signs or street decals.  
  • Please refer to the map below for permitted sign locations.

 

  • For AMS elections, the campaign period is February 23, 2026 at 12:01am to March 6, 2026 at 5pm.  All AMS Elections requirements and UBC sign guidelines and policies must be followed. 

    • Lawn signs must be a maximum size of 24”x18”. 
    • A minimum 2"x2" QR code with the voting dates and AMS Elections logo is required.
    • A maximum of 10 lawn signs per candidate and 20 signs per referendum campaign. 
    • Charges will apply if signs are not removed by March 6th at 5pm.
    • Outdoor posters must a maximum size of 11"x17" and must have a minimum 2"x2" QR code with the voting dates and AMS Elections logo.  Outdoor posters are only permitted on the poster cylinders located on University Blvd. . Posters will be removed in all other outdoor locations.
