This project is intended to pilot a service that will provide building owners with energy and emission reports for their buildings, allowing owners to better understand their building’s energy performance, and energy costs and support energy efficiency investments that will reduce energy use and costs.
The pilot will also provide the UNA and UBC with information about neighbourhood energy use that will help inform development of future policies and programs intended to improve neighbourhood building energy performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Participants will also qualify to participate in a provincial pilot program called Building Benchmark BC where participating buildings would volunteer to share building performance publicly and potentially be recognized for exemplary building performance.
Participating strata councils will:
- receive an annual energy and emission report for their building; and,
- have access to an online tool (Energy Star Portfolio Manager) where they can track building energy performance on an ongoing basis.
To participate, strata councils agree to share their buildings energy performance with UBC and the UNA.
